SELEUKID KINGS. Demetrios I Soter, 162-150 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 31 mm, 16.62 g, 12 h), Antiochia on the Orontes, SE 158 = 155/4 BC. Diademed head of Demetrios I to right within laurel wreath. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ - ΔHMHTPIOY / ΣΩΤΗΡΟΣ Tyche, holding scepter in her right hand and cornucopiae in her left, seated left on throne supported by tritoness right; to left, monogram of AΠ above monogram of TAN (?); in exergue, HNP (date). CSE 150 (same obverse die). SC 1641.3c. SMA 103. Beautifully toned and struck from arguably the finest obverse die in Demetrios' Antiochian series, with a magnificent portrait struck in high relief. The obverse struck somewhat off center and with minor doubling on the reverse, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
